Turmeric Poached Egg

I’ll start this post off by saying that this was my first time poaching an egg – so I was skeptical to say the least. Even though poaching an egg doesn’t sound complicated, it can end up extremely messy and unsatisfying. Needless to say, this recipe turned out amazing!! Check out the recipe below for a new twist on egg & avo toast!

What you’ll need:

  1. 1 fresh egg;
  2. A pot of water;
  3. Salt, turmeric, cayenne & cumin powder;
  4. 1 tsp apple cider vinegar
  5. 1 avocado
  6. 1 slice of bread

How to make it:

  1. Bring pot of water to boil;
  2. Add vinegar, salt, turmeric, cayenne and cumin powder (be generous with the spices!), and whisk together to blend;
  3. Once the water starts to boil, bring the temperature down and let the water simmer;
  4. Crack an egg into a ramekin or small bowl/ cup;
  5. Swirl the pot of water to create a “whirlpool” effect and slowly add in the egg (I’ve heard the “whirlpool” effect helps to wrap the egg white around the yolk so it doesn’t separate too much!);
  6. Leave the egg in for 3-5 mins, depending on desired consistency;
  7. Remove with slotted spoon and place on top of avocado & toast;
  8. Sprinkle some salt, and enjoy!
